Delhi Capitals thrash GT with 11.1 overs to spare! Length ball around leg. Sumit tries to pull but it takes a bottom edge and rolls away to fine leg for four
GT vs DC, 32nd Match at Ahmedabad, IPL, Apr 17 2024 - Match Result
Winning captain and Player of the Match is Rishabh Pant. He had two stumpings, two catches, managed his bowlers well and stayed not out. He says: "Lots of things to be pleased about. We spoke about champion mindset and our team spoke about it. (Best bowling effort of IPL 2024?) Definitely one of the best. Still early in the tournament and we can still improve from here. (Pant behind the stumps and with the bat) The only thought process before coming to the field is that I wanted to come in in a better way. Only thought when I was doing my rehab. Each and every match I am loving the process and being on the ground. (Chasing 90) The only conversation was to get it as early as possible because we lost few NRR points in some other games where we lost. (Comment about bowlers) I think we just want to enjoy one win at a time. They are hard to come by but you have to enjoy each and every moment."
10.17pm Before the presentations, a summary of today's contest: Rashid's 31 aside, the Titans' batting was disastrous. From being 30 for 4, their task was cut out but still they'd be disappointed not even touching ninety total runs as a team, more so in this impact player era. Ironically, Kuldeep was the only bowler from DC who did not get a wicket, with Mukesh topping the charts with his 3-14.
After that, Warrier was impressive for GT as a pace bowler on his franchise debut, but surely Gill should've used Rashid and Noor much earlier? Capitals lost four wickets, but it made little difference in their charge.
Jake Fraser-McGurk: "Tried to get off to a nice start, hopefully get that NRR going in our favour. (50 on debut last game) When you're riding this wave, you have to ride it as long as you can. Cricket is a feeble game. (The pitch) We got better of the conditions, dew and skiddy in the second innings. Kept a bit low. (Two wins in two for DC) We've got confidence in the way we play. Took us couple of games to find that out. We'll keep going, who knows!"
So Rishabh Pant marshals his team home as a non-out batter, completing a terrific outing for the away team. We'll hear from him later, but first the losing captain.
Shubman Gill, losing captain: Our batting was very average. Need to move on from this game and come back with the same mindset before the next game. The wicket was alright. If you see our dismissals - me, Saha and Sai - it had nothing to do with the pitch. (Hope in second innings?) When the opposition is chasing 89, unless your bowler takes a double hat-trick, you cannot win. (Blip in form?) This is halfway of the season and we've won 3 games already. Hopefully we win 5-6 more in the second half like the past couple of years."
10.12pm Only 53 legal deliveries needed for the Delhi Capitals. Big shake up on the points table as the Capitals zoom up from ninth to sixth. The Titans slide from sixth to seventh!

Bharat: "Enough with the auction retention/selection blaming. The teams decide these things based on a gut feeling, just like captains do gamble on field. If it works out, it looks awesome. If it doesn't, it looks bad. Those are the dynamics of any such gamble. Even the great CSK management looked bad in 2 out of last 4 seasons with their team selection. It happens. Let's move on. "
and Rashid strikes! Hope tries an expansive reverse sweep, but he doesn't get the elevation, and ends up hitting it to Mohit at conventional short third.
